Our story

Founded by Kevin Walsh in 2003, KAW Interior Design began with a simple aim: to offer a more personal, trustworthy, and design‑driven alternative to the large kitchen chains.

Since opening our first showroom in 2006, we’ve designed and installed hundreds of kitchens across Worcestershire, earning multiple NEFF Design Awards and building a reputation based on trust and recommendation.

Following our recent showroom refurbishment, we continue to combine decades of experience with modern design and premium appliances.

Founder & Director

Kevin's Story...

Kevin founded KAW Interior Design in 2003 with a vision to create beautifully designed kitchens that combine thoughtful planning, quality craftsmanship, and a truly personal service. With over two decades of experience, Kevin has built a reputation for creative problem‑solving, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep commitment to delivering exceptional results.

Starting his journey in retail and property renovation before moving into kitchen design, Kevin discovered his passion for helping people transform their homes. After excelling at Magnet and managing full kitchen renovations using his own trusted network of trades, he launched KAW to offer a complete one‑stop service focused on transparency, quality, and a genuinely enjoyable customer experience.

Over the years, Kevin has designed hundreds of kitchens across Worcestershire and the West Midlands and has led KAW to multiple achievements, including winning NEFF Design Awards and hosting numerous NEFF demonstration days.

Known for his friendly approach and honest guidance, Kevin oversees all design work, manages installations, and leads the KAW team with passion and dedication. His goal remains the same as the day he started: to create beautiful, functional spaces that customers love living in.

Gemma

Senior Designer & Business Support

Gemma's Story...

Gemma brings a rare blend of creativity, technical expertise, and organisational strength to KAW Interior Design. With years of hands‑on experience in kitchen design, she has a natural eye for detail and an exceptional ability to visualise spaces, ensuring every project is both beautiful and highly functional.

Her design approach is thoughtful and customer‑focused — she listens closely, understands how people use their homes, and translates that into layouts, finishes and product choices that feel tailored and timeless. Whether it’s a contemporary slab kitchen or a classic shaker, Gemma’s guidance consistently leads to stunning end results.

Alongside her design work, Gemma plays a vital role in the day‑to‑day running of the business, supporting scheduling, supplier coordination, and client communication. Customers often comment on how helpful, knowledgeable and reassuring she is throughout their project.

Her combination of design talent, operational expertise, and calm professionalism makes her an invaluable part of the KAW team — and a key reason customers enjoy working with us.

Jim

Kitchen Fitter & Specialist Installer

Jim's Story...

Jim brings over 40 years of hands‑on craftsmanship to KAW Interior Design. After starting his career as a carpenter straight out of school, he spent more than 32 years mastering traditional carpentry and joinery before moving into kitchen fitting, where he has now worked for 10 years.

He has also carried out specialist work on narrowboats, designing and building fully bespoke interiors and cabinetry from scratch — a discipline that demands precision, problem‑solving, and exceptional attention to detail. This craftsmanship now defines his work at KAW.

Jim enjoys every stage of the installation process, taking pride in precision detail, careful planning, and immaculate finishing. Known affectionately as ‘Smiling Jim’, he has a calm, friendly and easy‑going nature. He works respectfully in customers’ homes, keeps everything tidy and protected, and always ends each day with the workspace clean and organised.

Customers consistently say the same things: he is polite, trustworthy, skilled, friendly — and a pleasure to have in their home.

Outside of work, Jim loves motorbikes and motocross. Though retired from riding himself, he now supports his son who follows the same passion. He enjoys road racing, has visited the Isle of Man TT several times, and is still an active cyclist.

Jim joined KAW after working for larger companies, choosing us because he wanted to be part of a quality‑focused independent business. Since joining in January, the feedback has been exceptional — and he has become a fantastic and valued part of the KAW team.
